What is the purpose of the programme?

According to Marianne, “When you’re working in an office, sometimes you can feel disconnected from the bigger picture of your work”. The Back to School programme enables individuals to see the impact of their work firsthand and connect with the mission of EIT Food.

“We love the idea that anyone can be a food educator. It doesn’t matter what your occupation is – everyone in EIT Food is contributing to change in our food system, and we want people to feel proud of their role in that”.

On a personal level, the programme provides an opportunity for participants to step outside their day-to-day roles and develop new skills. For many, this will be their first experience as a teacher. “Teaching is such a great way to develop professionally. It challenges you to think differently and engage with others in ways you might not have expected,” says Marianne. It’s also a chance to connect with colleagues, share experiences, and build a community of food educators and ambassadors within EIT Food.

The programme structure

The programme is designed as a hands-on, interactive learning experience. Three training sessions will equip participants with the necessary tools for teaching. Between sessions, participants will work independently on logistics and preparation. “It’s about building confidence, developing new skills, and gaining real-world experience as educators,” says Marianne.

A new path for food education

In the end, the Back to School programme isn’t just about returning to the classroom—it’s about taking what you know, sharing it with others, and building a community of learners and educators who can inspire change in our food system.
