Interactive learning at Food Story 2025

At the Food Story 2025 event on June 6th, FoodEducators hosted an engaging station titled Science in the Kitchen and Healthy Eating. Students tried hands-on food science experiments and learned about nutrition in a fun, interactive way.

With ten stations focusing on topics like crop cultivation and sustainable farming, the event helped bring complex agricultural topics to life for young learners.

Over 100 schools attend webinars showcasing FoodEducators lesson plans

FoodEducators hosted two engaging webinars in Hungary, attended by 140 teachers from 128 schools. The sessions presented the 2024 Activity Weeks and lesson plans, sparking enthusiasm for classroom food literacy.

Portugal
FoodEducators inspire tomorrow’s changemakers at Regenerate Festival

Our Portuguese Hub led interactive workshops with 74 students at the Regenerate Festival, exploring how our food choices affect the planet. With group games and activities on food waste and food labels, the sessions connected science to daily life.

Slovakia
From flowers to insects: Children explore the future of food

In a fascinating workshop at an elementary school, children learned about edible flowers and insects with the help of Dr. Eva Ivanišová from SPU in Nitra.

Students sampled mealworms, crickets, and flower-infused chocolate while discovering how these ingredients can play a role in future food systems. The event highlighted the importance of early education in healthy and sustainable eating.

Turkey
A new compost project pioneered by high school students

At the TÜBİTAK 4006 Science Fair, students presented their composting project aimed at reducing food waste.

By designing and testing a compost system for household organic waste, students learned about natural cycles, scientific methods, and sustainable solutions. The project showcased how youth-led science can drive change.

Spain
FoodEducators resources are now available in three additional languages!

Our popular Food Waste and Loss teaching material is now available in four official Spanish languages! Teachers can now access the resource in Spanish, Basque, Galician, and Catalan, making sustainable food education more accessible than ever.

The lesson plan encourages students to think critically about food waste and become agents of change in their communities.
