FoodEducators Launches Teachers’ Board
In its unwavering commitment to enhancing educational experiences surrounding food and nutrition, EIT FoodEducators proudly announces the establishment of its Teachers' Board. This initiative marks a significant milestone in the our journey towards fostering a community-driven approach to educational material development and capacity building, specifically tailored for teachers across Europe.
Why Establish a Teachers' Board?
At the heart of FoodEducators' strategy lies a profound recognition of the crucial role teachers play in shaping the future generation's understanding of food, nutrition, and sustainability. The creation of the Teachers' Board underscores our dedication to engaging with our primary stakeholders – the educators. By establishing a collaborative platform where teachers can contribute their insights, expertise, and diverse perspectives, FoodEducators aims to ensure that its resources are not only relevant but also effectively cater to the needs of educators and students alike.
The recruitment process for the Teachers' Board was conducted with transparency and inclusivity in mind. An open selection call was disseminated through our website and social media channels, inviting passionate and dedicated educators from varied backgrounds, education levels, languages, and subject areas to join us in this transformative journey.
With over 30 applications pouring in, our review panel assessed each candidate based on their demonstrated commitment, expertise, and potential contributions. Ultimately, 10 outstanding individuals were selected to form the our first Teachers' Board.
Tasks Ahead: Collaborative Endeavors
The Teachers' Board comprises a dynamic ensemble of educators, each bringing a unique blend of experiences, skills, and passions to the table. From seasoned veterans in curriculum development to innovative pedagogical practitioners, our diverse cohort reflects the rich tapestry of the European educational landscape. Their collective wisdom and dedication serve as the driving force behind FoodEducators' mission to empower educators and inspire learners.
As the Teachers' Board embarks on its journey, its members have been divided into small working groups, each tasked with specific objectives aligned with FoodEducators' strategic priorities. Currently, these groups are engaged in the following endeavors:
- Aligning with National Curricula: Providing input on aligning existing FoodEducators materials with national curriculum frameworks to enhance accessibility and relevance.
- Enhancing Lesson Plans: Reviewing and making recommendations for the development of future lesson plans or alternative formats to optimize learning outcomes.
- Expanding Outreach: Exploring innovative strategies to directly engage and reach a broader spectrum of teachers across Europe.
Next Steps: Towards Collective Impact
Looking ahead, the Teachers' Board is poised to undertake a series of transformative initiatives aimed at amplifying its impact and reach. The upcoming round of working groups will focus on conducting a pan-European needs survey and organizing a pan-European webinar, slated to commence during our face-to-face meeting at the end of May. These initiatives represent pivotal milestones in our collective endeavor to foster a more inclusive, informed, and empowered educational ecosystem.
